Structures II
Structures II is an exhibition of Rowe’s ongoing material and process exploration.
The scale and complexity of the forms has evolved over time. Different clay bodies and specially formulated glazes have been utilised in their creation. A range of construction techniques have been explored. This unfettered process of working and experimenting with clay is a true an exploration of creating - making, material enquiry, process and transformative act of firing.
The works have an undeniable connection to history, architecture and the built environment. Rowe’s unplanned, direct engagement with both the material and the process of creating detaches the artwork from a specific place or time and gives the sculptures an immediate quality.
